SHUTTLE TEBRAU (Guide for Singaporean)
The journey takes only 5 minutes after departure.

TIPS: Book online for 1 way ticket at a time (SG5 from SG + RM5 from JB). If you book 2 ways (with return ticket) the fees will be higher (SG5 x 2 ways tickets).

For immigration clearance and boarding process:

  • Scanning your passport as your boarding ticket. Just keep your digital ticket with you, in case of further checking which is unlikely.

  • Gate open 40mins before departure from Woodlands Train Checkpoint (Singapore).

  • Gate open 30mins before departure from JB Sentral.

It is important to book your ticket departure time carefully and keep in mind of the following:

  • Both locations gates strictly close 20mins before departure.

  • As delays may occur, it is advisable to book any onward transportation for a later time after the train's scheduled arrival to allow for sufficient buffer.

  • For a more comfortable journey, arrive at least 1 hour before departure, as queues often form early. At JB Sentral, there are eateries on the same floor, so you can grab a bite while waiting.

Travelling with children aged 4 years and below:

  • Travel for free - sharing seat with an adult.

  • Register your child at the ticketing counter before entry.
Ticketing counter @ Wdls CIQ: 1st Floor - the glassdoor entrance is actually at the side of the building so you won't actually miss it.

Ticketing counter @ JB Sentral: Same floor as the gate entry and facing the gate, you won't miss it.

  • In Singapore, the ticketing counter for registration opens only at 10:30am. If your booking is before 10:30am, you won't be able to register your child at the counter beforehand. Please inform the officer at the gate once open, and after verifying your booking, they will allow your child to enter with you.

Electric Train Service (ETS) KTM (Guide for Singaporean)
The journey duration depending on your destination.

The boarding gate opens 30mins before departure, and strictly closes 10mins before departure.

Where ETS at JB Sentral? the ETS and Shuttle Tebrau gates are located side by side. If you're travelling from Woodlands CIQ to JB Sentral on the Shuttle Tebrau, you'll exit right beside the ETS departure gate. This makes transferring to your onward ETS train quick and convenient, with only a short walk between the two gates.

About LUGGAGE (Useful for first time traveller)

I genuinely had my worries about travelling with big sized luggage. Would it be manageable? Was it even allowed?

I hope this information comes in handy. There is no official restriction on luggage size when travelling on the Shuttle Tebrau or KTM ETS. However, do make sure you are able to lift and carry your luggage yourself, or have another adult, such as your travel companion. From our experience, a 28" luggage also fits in the boot (trunk) of most 6-seater cabs and larger private transfers.

The biggest challenge was getting the 28" luggage on and off both the Shuttle Tebrau and KTM ETS, as there are gaps between the platform and train - some are small, while others are wider with a few steps. Alhamdulillah, my dear husband was able to lift and carry the luggage without any issues. Also, lifting it onto the X-ray baggage scanner at the immigration checkpoint.

For wheelchair users, station staff will place a boarding plank to assist with boarding. However, it is not intended for loading or wheeling luggage onto the train.

There is a designated luggage area near the entrance for larger suitcases but very limited space. We noticed inconsiderate passengers placing their small luggage there even though it could easily fit on the overhead rack.

TIPS: Booking seats close to the entrance on the KTM ETS allowed us to keep our 28-inch luggage securely behind our seats, where there was just enough space for it to fit comfortably throughout the journey.

As for the Shuttle Tebrau, you may sit in any available seat. As our 28-inch luggage doesn't have wheel locks, we used our locked 18-inch luggage to keep it from rolling. Otherwise, you may need to hold onto your luggage throughout the 5-minutes journey.
